Yee Wah Chow translated the characters as loyalty and filial. The first six moves of a form are the warm up but also the salute and a statement to the foe about loyalty to your family.
Jong How is 忠孝 in traditional
Chinese characters. The first character Jong 忠 means loyal. The second character How 孝 means filial. So the expression as a whole means being loyal or faithful to that who came before you. Or being loyal to your ancestry or lineage
