The Element of Surprise

The Element of Surprise

How a street fight usually happens, some how 2 people don’t like each other or someone offends the other guy or someone just wants to fight. Usually there are angry words, “you are a punk”. “kiss my butt”, your mother is a whore, you get the message. Next comes a physical posturing dance and he starts moving toward you and his girl or a friend keep pulling him back. OK, now we get down to the nitty gritty, he moves toward you, arms and feet wide apart, chest puffed up and he says, “hit me, go ahead” he may put up his fists but usually not. Now it becomes serious, he bumps his chest into your chest and them pushes your chest with both hands as he calls you more names and then the fight begins if there is ever going to be a fight. Not that you have to wait but if it goes that far an ideal time to end the fight is when he chest bumps you, shift your head to the side (get it out of the way) as you knee to the groin, as he bends down a crisp back hand to the neck should end it. I have seen this scenario so many times and it always looks stupid. Jimmy decided to teach students to defend themselves from their very first lesson, he told you not to take combat stance unless you missed your first chance and were slow to act, then hands could go up to protect yourself. Your passive non-aggressive stance was your first surprise, you decided if you should strike or block. If his face is in your face he can not see a webhand traveling up his chest to his throat. You can win or you can lose, I can’t fight your fight, I can teach usable tactics. You need to understand body language as to is this guy is a real threat or a poser. How do you do that, study and read about it on your computer it is all on there, start BL then NLP, Neuro-linguistic programming, look for these in images for examples, knowledge is yours go after it, it’s free. You should also watch programs like Live PD (as it all happens) and watch what tells to watch for. I usually know if they will fight or run or the danger to the before it happens from experience. Jimmy would always say, “to be a good fighter is how smart you are”. I have much more to say and will continue on the next article.
