Types of Buddhist Breathing Can Save Your Life

Types of Buddhist Breathing Can Save Your Life

I would not share this with you unless I truly believed it and used it. When I was younger and hunting for deer I was climbing in the hills and noticed how many times I had to stop to get my breath. It made me wonder how I could climb farther without stopping to rest. When home I was reading a Chinese book about breathing techniques and found one that interested me. It had to … Read more

Endurance & Pain

Endurance & Pain

There are often many instances when a law enforcement officer is involved in a foot pursuit or a “full-on” fight with one or more individuals that one becomes so exhausted that you feel you can’t go on. I learned some valuable lessons which I will pass on to you. Many officers admit they had never been in a fist fight throughout their entire life. This always seemed unbelievable to me, being raised in Los Angeles … Read more

Jim Benkert on Jimmy H Woo, Warren Woo, and Jimmy’s Father

Jim Benkert on Jimmy H Woo, Warren Woo, and Jimmy’s Father

I was cleaning out my computer and found this from Jim Benkert, this is important because when we are gone, they will start pushing the same old lies but keep these to prove them wrong. There will be more as I clean out my computer (I have 6 or 7). Remember information like this comes straight from Jimmy’s son who also told me he looked in the books and they had nothing to do with … Read more

The Four Types of Lessons Taught

As I was clearing out my email In Box I came across this article I had written for a book and thought it would be some good info to pass on. In talking with Barbara, we discussed the issue of continuing to share info on this page and decided to continue out of respect for Jimmy’s wish for his Art to go on. Many times, we use verbiage and words without understanding their true meaning … Read more

Lau Bun – Part of our lineage!

Lau Bun – Part of our lineage!

Lau Bun is from the same area as Jimmy and maybe trained in the same school, he is in our lineage book. I found this video which is very interesting and appears very accurate with what I know. Jimmy used to visit Lau Bun’s studio, this was told to me by Wally Jay (Small circle Ju Jitsu) who saw him there. When they discuss Lau Bun was security for the Hung Sing club in LA … Read more

The older I get, I hate to listen to dumb people!

The older I get, I hate to listen to dumb people!

I would like to share some information that is being shoved off that is pure BS. That is about the choke hold which is really a carotid artery restraint. Choke=cut off air, restraint=blood and if done right is very humane and allows a very short time to put on cuffs. A choke hold is easy to see or hear if used on someone they cough/choke and have difficulty breathing. It is ugly, drool is all … Read more

Blast from the past!

Blast from the past!

This is a video taken in Robert Resann’s studio when I brought in old films to show his students how things were when I learned. I have always believed that all those who will carry on San Soo need to know real facts, real stories, real technique, real psychology, that was passed on to us and facts that we learned on the way. All students should evaluate if they are being taught the real ideas … Read more

Will Martial Arts schools survive the current threat?

Will Martial Arts schools survive the current threat?

My view is a few may but most will not without drastic changes and I am not sure what those may be. If this virus lasts the rest this year and into the next all arts are in trouble. If virus carriers are out there, I don’t think students will be interested coming to class and rolling around with another’s sweaty body. Frankly, I am tired of checking/waiting for someone to ask a question or … Read more
